These portraits are NOT conversions from photos - they are individually drawn and digitally painted as if on a normal canvas.
Although Karen sketches on paper, she now sketches also on a Wacom Cintiq 21 inch monitor which acts like a digital canvas.
This has many benefits - one of which is not having to wait for each layer of paint to dry before continuing the painting.
